Eukas Creator Index, Does TikTok Logic Work on Instagram

Ninety percent of TikTok Shop’s top-performing creators never touched Instagram Reels in a meaningful commerce capacity, according to industry chatter among agency buyers this cycle. So when Euka announced its creator indexing model would expand from TikTok Shop into Instagram, the obvious question wasn’t whether the company could do it. It was whether the scoring logic that worked on one platform’s data exhaust would survive contact with an entirely different engagement architecture.

What Euka’s Indexing Model Actually Does

Euka built its name scoring creators for TikTok Shop affiliates: predicting who would convert browsers into buyers based on GMV history, video completion rates, and shop-tab click behavior. The index spits out a single composite score, something brands could slot into a media plan without needing a data scientist on staff. That simplicity is the selling point. It’s also the risk.

TikTok Shop gave Euka a closed loop of purchase data most competitors would kill for. Every affiliate link, every checkout, every repeat buyer got logged inside the platform’s own commerce rails. Instagram doesn’t offer that. Meta’s checkout experience is fragmented across DM-based sales, Shop tags, and off-platform links to Shopify or DTC storefronts. That’s a fundamentally different signal environment, and it changes what “indexing” even means.

An index built on closed-loop commerce data doesn’t automatically transfer to a platform where half the conversion signal lives off-platform in Shopify webhooks and DM screenshots.

Why the TikTok Shop Version Worked

Give credit where it’s due. On TikTok, Euka’s model correctly flagged mid-tier creators who outperformed mega-influencers on conversion, a pattern eMarketer has documented repeatedly in social commerce research. Brands using the index reported fewer wasted seeding budgets because the score weighted actual sales behavior over vanity engagement. That’s the right instinct. Most legacy influencer tools still lean too hard on follower count and comment velocity, metrics that Sprout Social’s own benchmarking has shown correlate weakly with purchase intent.

The model’s fraud filtering also held up reasonably well in third-party spot checks, catching bot-inflated engagement pods that older tools missed. If you’ve compared vendors on this axis before, you already know how much variance exists in fraud scoring approaches across the category. Euka’s TikTok-native version landed somewhere in the middle: not the most aggressive, but not naive either.

    The Instagram Expansion Problem

Instagram is a harder platform to index for one simple reason: intent signals are scattered. TikTok Shop compresses discovery, consideration, and purchase into a few taps inside one app. Instagram spreads that journey across Stories, Reels, DMs, Shop tags, and outbound links to a brand’s own checkout. Euka’s engineering team has to stitch together a picture that used to arrive pre-assembled.

That’s not a hypothetical concern. It’s the same identity resolution headache that’s plagued the broader martech stack since third-party cookies started crumbling, a problem we’ve covered extensively in our cookieless identity resolution testing. When a creator posts on Instagram and drives a sale three days later through a bookmarked link, does Euka’s index catch that? Early beta feedback from agency partners suggests attribution windows are still too short, and the model over-indexes on immediate Story-swipe conversions while underweighting the slower-burn Reels discovery path.

There’s also a data access question. Meta’s API restrictions are notoriously tighter than TikTok’s, especially post the platform’s various privacy tightening rounds documented on Meta Business. Euka’s model has to work with less granular behavioral data on Instagram than it enjoyed on TikTok Shop. Less data in, less confident the score out. Any vendor claiming otherwise is either overselling or hasn’t hit the wall yet.

A Different Creator Population, Full Stop

Here’s the part vendors rarely say out loud: the creators who dominate TikTok Shop GMV leaderboards often aren’t the same people driving Instagram commerce. TikTok Shop rewards rapid-fire, unpolished product demos. Instagram still rewards aesthetic consistency and brand-safe polish, particularly for higher-consideration categories like beauty and home goods. An indexing model trained on one creator archetype risks misjudging the other entirely.

Brands running cross-platform influencer programs need to ask Euka directly: is the Instagram index a retrained model, or a repackaged TikTok scoring logic wearing a different UI? That distinction matters more than any feature list.

Should Brands Trust the Score, or Just Use It as a Starting Point?

No index, however sophisticated, should be the sole gate for creator selection. Treat Euka’s score the way you’d treat a credit score: useful for triage, dangerous as the only input. Pair it with your own first-party performance data wherever possible.

    • Cross-reference the index against your own conversion data before committing spend, not after.
    • Run a small pilot cohort on Instagram before porting your entire TikTok Shop roster over.
    • Ask for the model’s attribution window and data refresh cadence in writing. Vague answers here are a red flag.
    • Check whether the score adjusts for category. A skincare creator and a tech reviewer shouldn’t be judged on identical weighting.

This is also where a clean data pipeline matters more than people admit. If your CRM and creator platform aren’t talking to each other, an index score is just another disconnected number in a spreadsheet. We’ve written before about what happens when creator data pipelines break down at scale, and the failure mode is always the same: good data in, garbage decisions out because nobody unified the stack.

Where This Fits in the Broader Vendor Landscape

Euka isn’t operating in a vacuum. Brands evaluating an indexing model should stack it against the scoring approaches baked into full-stack platforms like the ones we compared in Postr, CreatorIQ, and Grin. Those platforms build creator scoring as one module inside a much larger workflow: contracts, payments, content approval. Euka is a point solution. That’s fine if it does one thing exceptionally well, but it puts more integration burden on your team.

The bigger strategic question is whether a single index score should even feed directly into CRM-based creator scoring, or whether it needs a human review layer first. Our CRM scoring framework piece lays out the risk of letting any single vendor’s black-box number auto-populate your outreach priority list without a sanity check.

There’s also a taxonomy problem lurking underneath all of this. If Euka’s event definitions for “engagement” or “conversion” don’t match how your internal analytics team defines the same terms, you’ll get silent data drift that nobody notices until Q3 reporting looks off. Worth reviewing against the standards laid out in our event taxonomy checklist before onboarding any new scoring vendor, Euka included.

Compliance and Disclosure, the Part Nobody Wants to Slow Down For

An indexing model that surfaces high-converting creators is worthless if those creators aren’t disclosing partnerships properly. The FTC’s endorsement guidelines apply regardless of which platform generated the sale, and Instagram’s DM-based commerce flows create disclosure blind spots that TikTok Shop’s more centralized checkout doesn’t have. Ask Euka whether the index factors in disclosure compliance history at all. If it doesn’t, that’s a gap your legal team should know about before signing anything.

Platform policy differences matter too. TikTok’s ad and commerce policies differ meaningfully from Instagram’s commerce terms, and an index that doesn’t account for platform-specific rules around affiliate disclosure risks recommending creators who are technically high-performing but operationally risky.

    The Verdict, For Now

Euka’s expansion into Instagram is a reasonable bet, but it’s an early-stage one. The TikTok Shop version earned its reputation on real commerce data and decent fraud filtering. The Instagram version is working with murkier signals, a different creator population, and a less generous API environment. Brands piloting it should treat the score as a directional signal, not gospel, and should budget time for their own validation pass before scaling spend against it.

    FAQs

What is a creator indexing model?

A creator indexing model is a scoring system that ranks influencers or creators based on predicted performance, typically using historical engagement, conversion, and fraud signals to produce a single comparable score across a creator pool.

Why is Instagram harder to index than TikTok Shop?

Instagram’s commerce journey is fragmented across Stories, Reels, DMs, and off-platform checkout links, while TikTok Shop keeps discovery and purchase inside one closed loop, giving vendors cleaner, more complete data to score against.

Should brands rely solely on Euka’s index for creator selection?

No. Any single vendor’s index should be paired with a brand’s own first-party conversion data and a human review step, since black-box scores can miss category nuance and platform-specific compliance risk.

Does Euka’s model account for FTC disclosure compliance?

Brands should confirm this directly with Euka before onboarding, since disclosure compliance history isn’t a standard input in most creator indexing models and represents a real risk gap if ignored.

How should brands pilot a new indexing tool like Euka on Instagram?

Start with a small creator cohort, cross-reference the index score against internal conversion data, and confirm the attribution window and data refresh cadence before scaling budget against the recommendations.

Bottom line: pilot Euka’s Instagram index on a contained creator cohort for one full sales cycle before letting it touch your broader media plan, and insist on seeing the raw attribution logic, not just the composite score.
